Experience Lead With Impact before deciding whether it’s right for you

You don’t need another webinar telling you what good leadership looks like.  And you probably don’t need another online programme sitting half-finished because, despite the best intentions, it never quite made the leap from interesting information to actually helping you lead differently.

So rather than telling you what Lead With Impact is like, we’d rather let you experience it.  Join Tracy-Anne Barker for a free, live 60-minute taster session where you’ll step into the kind of coaching, conversation and practical learning that happens inside Lead With Impact.

You’ll have space to think properly about your own leadership, explore one of the challenges that may be keeping you stuck, and leave with something practical you can use straight away.  And if you’re considering joining Lead With Impact afterwards?  You’ll know exactly what you’re saying yes to.

Being good at your job doesn’t automatically make leading people easy

That’s the strange thing about becoming a leader. One day, you’re the person who knows their role inside out, the next, you’re expected to delegate, motivate people, manage performance, handle difficult conversations, think strategically, hold people accountable and somehow still get your own work done. Often without much practical leadership development along the way.

That doesn’t mean you’re not capable of doing it, it means that leadership is a skillset in its own right, and expecting people to simply pick it up as they go creates a development gap that can make an already demanding role considerably harder.

For the leaders who’ve been figuring it out as they go

This session is for aspiring and current middle leaders in education, Heads of Department, Heads of Year, team leads, and anyone who's been given responsibility for people without ever being taught how to lead them. If you sometimes feel out of your depth, unsure how to balance managing people, strategy and performance, then this was built with you in mind.

Maybe you

  • know you should delegate more, but often find yourself thinking “it would be quicker to do it myself.”
  • spend so much time dealing with the immediate that there’s very little space left to actually lead.
  • put off conversations because you’re not completely sure how to approach them.
  • are carrying responsibility for other people but don’t always have anywhere to talk honestly about the things you’re finding difficult.
  • can see the kind of leader you want to be, but day-to-day pressure keeps pulling you back into old habits.
  • want to feel more confident making decisions and handling people, without becoming someone you’re not in the process.

That’s exactly the territory we’ll begin exploring in this session.

One hour.
Real leadership thinking.
Something useful to take away.

This isn’t a presentation about the Lead With Impact programme disguised as a free masterclass.  We’re going to do some actual work.  Over 60 minutes, our founder, Tracy-Anne will give you a flavour of the same blend of practical learning, reflection and live coaching used within the full programme.

Space to think about your leadership. You’ll start by considering the gap between the leader you are today and the leader you’d like to become. Because when you’re busy managing people, deadlines, problems and everybody else’s priorities, proper thinking time tends to disappear rather quickly.
A practical leadership tool you can use immediately.  We’ll explore a standalone framework from Lead With Impact, giving you something tangible to take back into your role rather than leaving with a page full of notes you never look at again. The session will include a practical exploration of delegation and the things you may be holding onto that you could confidently release.
A live coaching experince. This is where you’ll really experience what makes the programme different.  Tracy-Anne will work with one or two people in the room on what has come up during the session, giving you the opportunity to experience her coaching style and learn from the challenges and perspectives of other leaders too.
A genuine feel for Lead With Impact.  If you’re considering the full programme, you shouldn’t have to make that decision based entirely on a list of modules and promises on a sales page. Come into the room. Experience the conversations. Try the approach. Then decide whether you want more of it.

Because the way you lead affects everything else

Knowing about leadership and feeling able to lead confidently in the messy reality of an education environment are two very different things. When expectations are high, resources are stretched and your role involves balancing the needs of your team, pupils, colleagues and senior leadership, good people management isn’t a nice extra. It affects everything around you...

The confidence to have the conversation rather than avoid it.

The ability to delegate rather than quietly absorb more work yourself.

Knowing when someone needs direction and when they need space.

Being able to deal with performance issues before they become bigger ones.

Communicating upwards as effectively as you lead your own team.

And perhaps most importantly, recognising that becoming a better leader doesn’t mean having all the answers. Sometimes it means having the right space, tools and support to think more clearly about the questions.

The Managers Training Company works specifically within education, helping managers develop the confidence and competence they need to lead their teams effectively in an environment where demands are continually changing.

Meet Tracy-Anne

Tracy-Anne Barker is the founder of The Managers Training Company and has more than 15 years’ experience working with educators and education organisations.

Her work focuses on helping managers become more confident and capable leaders through practical development that translates into what actually happens when you get back to work. Because leadership rarely falls apart through a lack of management theory. It gets difficult in the moments when you have to deal with an underperforming colleague, hand over responsibility instead of doing it yourself, give feedback you know somebody isn’t going to enjoy hearing, motivate a struggling team or make a decision when there isn’t an obviously “right” answer.

Tracy-Anne brings together training and coaching so that you don’t simply learn another leadership model. You get the opportunity to think about how it applies to you, your team and the situations you’re dealing with right now.

She is a long-standing member of the Chartered Management Institute and author of How Not to Balls it Up, her practical guide to modern management. More importantly for this session? She won’t spend an hour talking at you, she’ll get you thinking.
